On Sunday mornings, children and youth of all ages join with their parents and other adults for the beginning Worship at 9:15 am, which includes a brief time of welcome, songs and prayers. Communion is observed on the first and third Sundays of every month, with the first Sunday a Family Communion when families may celebrate Communion together. On all other Sundays, Pastor Mike Holland has a Children's Moment with the younger children at the front of the sanctuary and then all children, youth and their teachers leave to attend their Sunday School classes.
Age divisions for Sunday School are as follows:
There is nursery care for toddlers 3 and 4 year olds Pre K - 1 st grades 2 nd - 3 rd grades 4 th - 5 th grades Jr. High - 6 th - 8 th grades Sr. High - 9 th - 12 th grades
Sunday school classes and worship both conclude at approximately 10:30 am in time for everyone to meet together for fellowship with coffee, punch and goodies in the social hall.
Confirmation classes are offered for Junior and Senior High students every other year.Instruction includes Church history, faith and practice, and is taught by Pastor, Dr. Mike Holland with help from other volunteers. Classes are encouraged for youth ready to either confirm their baptism, or to receive baptism, and join the church.
Church of the Foothills is committed to providing quality educational opportunities for all truth seekers. Special Adult Education Classes are offered throughout the calendar year featuring a wide variety of topics and speakers. Classes are offered in a semester format lasting a set number of weeks.
Adult Education Schedule All classes are from 10:45 -11:45 am on Sundays following morning worship services. Nursery care and children's program provided while parents attend classes.

Director of Christian Education
Julia graduated from Chapman University with a degree in Education/Teaching. She then pursued graduate work at Lexington Theological Seminary, University of Michigan, and Hartford Seminary Foundation. She and her husband Bernie then spent a year studying at the School of Administration in Bruxelles, Belgium before going to Africa as missionaries. Their 15 years in Africa involved teaching in the mission schools and helping with the church work. When they returned to the U.S.A. Julia took a teaching position with the Orange Unified School District which kept her busy for 38 years. She retired in 2006. She has been Director of Christian Education at Church of the Foothills since June of 2002. Back to Top |
